AP Comparative Government & Politics Exam
The AP Comparative Government and Politics course focuses on the organization and analysis of political systems, institutions, and processes across different nations. Students compare political structures and examine how power, authority, and legitimacy function within six core countries: China, Iran, Mexico, Nigeria, Russia, and the United Kingdom.
The course is organized around six major units:
1. Political Systems, Regimes, and Governments
2. Political Institutions
3. Political Culture and Participation
4. Party and Electoral Systems and Citizen Organizations
5. Political and Economic Changes and Development
6. Public Policy
The AP Comparative Government and Politics Exam format is:
Section I: Multiple Choice (60 minutes)
55 Multiple Choice Questions
Section II: Free Response (90 minutes)
4 Free Response Questions
– 1 Conceptual Analysis Question
– 1 Quantitative Analysis Question
– 1 Comparative Analysis Question
– 1 Argument Essay
Each section is weighted equally at 50% of the total exam score.
Exam Date:
The AP Comparative Government and Politics Exam for the 2024–2025 school year will be administered on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 12 noon. Like all AP exams, it is offered only once per year.
